Re: Pitted headlight lenses

Same thing happened to my 07 Montego. Unlike the Ford equivalent there are no aftermarket headlight assembly's available for the Montego. The only solution is 1250.00 a piece for brand new ones.

Re: 2005 ford five hundred

Hello Guys, Is it necessary to replace the rotator "roll" resistor AND the arm that it is housed in? Or can I do just the bearing. Firestone is saying yes.

Re: Transmission Service

Also considering the age, I would replace it. The cost to replace the CVT is so high.

Personally I believe that Ford tends to set maintenance schedules higher than they actually should be in order to lower total costs of ownership.

Re: front struts

I used MOOG complete assembly on the front my 2000 Taurus. Way too stiff. And they stayed too stiff for the 70K miles that I used them. I also put KYB's on the rear which also were way too stiff compared to stock. Both brands lasted, but way too stiff. On my '07, yesterday I put on Motorcraft struts...

Re: Transmission fluid and filter change

I believe that AAMCO uses an additive to get their base tranny oil to the Ford spec. That's pretty much what they told me. It was a $10 charge. They also told to never use tranny additives since they cause swelling of internal gaskets, etc. When they changed my fluid at 70K miles, they said it was v...

No Rear Strut Mounts on Ford's web site?

Hello ... I am putting on rear struts on a '07 Montego (74K). But I don't see any rear mounts listed on Ford's website. Monroe and KYB offer them. Should I replace them with Monroe? Next question: Should I use Monroe OE Spectrum or OEM Motorcraft? I just put new Motorcraft and new Motorcraft "mounti...

Probably not helpful, but I heard that the 08-09 coil springs have 10% more travel?

Re: CVT reliability and repair?

I wouldn't buy a CVT. I've heard way too many problems about them. Plus more things too break, and less mileage. I'll take a 2WD with Blizzacks over a (older) 4WD any day. Simply more things to break in a car that's over 7 years old.

Re: five hundred front end noise

It sounds like a simple problem that occurs when there is a lot of travel in the suspension. Perhaps a Ball Joint, control arm, etc. I've had great luck with Firestone Auto Care Centers on issues like this.

I want Fog lights. Any suggestions?

Hello, I want to install Fog Lights. Mostly for the cool looks, but also to be seen better.

Any suggestions? I am sure that Ford dealers would rape me, without lube, and trash talk me while doing it.

Re: Recharging A/C, 2006 - Ford 500

That's good advice Warment. I get my undercarriage washed as often as possible, in fact I did it yesterday. A couple times a week when they salt the roads.

But yes, Taurus' are rust buckets, I saw a '09 yesterday that had rear qtr panels completely rusted out.

Re: Recharging A/C, 2006 - Ford 500

It's ice cold now. And way cooler than I have been able to get cars just by topping them off with a refrigerant refill can. But at that cost, ($520.00) I wish I could have been able to. Oh well, it's an American car. So that means that once they are about 4 or 5 years old, you might as well drop you...

Re: Unable to shift out of Park

Last week, the shift lever on my '07 Montego got stuck in the drive position. But it turns out that problem wasn't anything electrical, transmission or brake pedal related. The problem was in the trigger on the shift knob. I took it off, and the rest was self evident. We tightened it up the trigger ...

Yeah, I had it running about 3K RPM. I had a book bag on the throttle. LOL. Firestone got back to me just now. I am not sure of the details yet, but I will find out more later today. I think the mechanic said that there was a clogged evaporator value. And.. But that means opening up the AC system, a...

Re: Recharging A/C, 2006 - Ford 500

Warment, the hose that came with "AC/PRO" refill can worked(s) fine for me. Slides right on, and then pinch-pulls off. AC/PRO is sold at most auto supply stores. BUT having said that, last night I have an AC issue that is beyond refilling the refrigerant. Specifically the AC only stays on for a minu...

Re: 07 Montego needs headlight restoration. They are both ox

Thanks Webmaster. I will track that item and maybe make an offer on it. Later today I have an appointment at Pepboys for their "3M Headlight restoration service." Firestone doesn't offer it. Some Jiffy Lubes do, some don't. The one near me doesn't. I hear Walmart does, but I am psychologically aller...
