Re: Needs new transmission at 59,000 miles

They are both very reputable in the Phoenix area. I dropped it off at the dealer on Thursday night. They just got back to me today saying that my PTO is shot. I asked if it did any damage to the trans and they said they'd have to dig further into it. As of now, they are NOT going to cover it under w...

Needs new transmission at 59,000 miles

Figure I'd share my story here. So about 2 1/2 years ago I purchased a 2014 Ford Police Sedan ( that has the ecoboost engine ). Car at the time I bought it ( from a Ford dealership ) had about 30,000 miles and 300 idle hours. The car was originally bought new from that dealer and was never in police...

Re: Asia Motors Inc. of Melrose Park, IL

I have bought two CVPI's from Asia Motors. A 2007 back in 2009 for $7999 and a 2011 back in 2013 for $8999. Both were in fantastic shape and never had any mechanical issues with any of them. Bought them both well under 100,000 miles. Had the 2007 until 150K and traded her, and had the 2011 to 173K u...

Re: Get better Mpg

My 2014 PI Ecoboost gets around 350 miles per tank mixed driving. It only has 50,000 miles too. I think that isn't great at all for a V6 Turbo. Plus considering that I'm driving it normal and hardly ever go WOT if at all. My CVPI got better mileage than the Taurus does. Hell, my mom's XC90 monster g...

Re: Anyone have their Ecoboost tuned ?

In my previous life, I drove CVPI's from 1998 until my last one (a 2005). I used Brad (ajpturbo) to tune my 2014 Ecoboost PI - can't recommend him enough, I bought an X4 SCT from him as well. I'm not kidding when I say It's a whole new beast. See minor mods below. Nice ! Now that's what I'm talking...

Anyone have their Ecoboost tuned ?

My factory powertrain warranty is running out pretty soon, and I figure that would be the perfect time to put a tuner on it ! Does anyone have any tuner experience ? Specifically - an SCT device ? I know Mo does SCT tuning for the CVPI world, but wonder if he's done tunes for our Taurus brothers ? O...

Re: what gas do you guys put?

I switched from 87 to 91 and felt little to zero difference in performance. My MPG went up by like 1 or 2, but to me, wasn't worth it. So, switched to 89 and called it a day.

Re: 2013 PI option questions

Rear cameras were standard in 2016 and were optional in 2013-2015.

Auto-lights were also an orderable factory option on the Police Taurus starting with the 2016 model year as well.

Re: 2016 PI Sedan Sync issue/center console

FYI -to the OP - your car DOES in fact have the SYNC system in it. You can tell because the non-SYNC cars did not have the USB or AUX connectors near the glove-box. It's just a flat blank plastic piece there instead. As to why it doesn't work ? Who knows. Maybe the past department disabled in intern...

Re: Any model changes since '13 through '17

In mid 2015 the seats changed from being two-tone ( silver in the middle ) to all black. Seats themselves are the same, just changed the color tone on them to all black.

Other than that they are cosmetically the same from 2013-2018 as far as I know at least.

Re: Police Interceptor Utility - first year for 3.5L EcoBoost?

2015 was the first model year for the PI Utility with the EcoBoost. It was one model year before the new facelift of the 2016+ models. The 2015 Utility Ecoboost also had a special front grille as well as "Interceptor" across the front hood.

Re: Question of Interceptor options.

Give it time, one will eventually come up as a retired unit at some point ( gonna have to wait awhile unfourtnally ). I was SUPER lucky and found exactly what you were looking for ( a never in police service Ecoboost sedan with almost every factory option ). I found it at a Ford dealer in South Caro...

Re: Question of Interceptor options.

Also, UA / WT is the Ford code for black and white. You want a paint code of just UA. As for the backup camera and BLIS becoming more popular after 2013 ? No idea. I don't think so if anything the BLIS is not a common order item on any police sedan out there ( I think there is ONE on eBay that has t...

Re: Question of Interceptor options.

There was no ecoboosts younger than a 13. In fact, there was no 2012 models ( unless they were demo - pre production units ). The Taurus Police sedan started in the 2013 model year. It also had the Ecoboost right from the start ( where the Utility took until the 2015 model year to get this option I ...

Re: Enable Backup Camera from Mirror to on radio screen

Good question, I know there is a website that tells you how to do this. I know in the Utility the camera came in the dash standard after like the 2016 model year. Anyone know if the camera in the Sedan came from the factory in the dash during any model year ?

Re: Cop car fascination?

If I didn't get into an accident I would've still had my 2011 CVPI. Loved that car but the insurance company totaled it out. She was super mint on the outside and inside. I told myself if anything happened to that car, that would be my last Crown Vic. I've owned 5 of them since 2005 ( been on CVN si...

Tinted out the Sedan

Just got my windows done about a month ago and wow what a difference. Much better now. Can easily see out at night, and not too dark during the day ( 20% all around ). https://preview.ibb.co/kvY10k/2017_03_28_10_28_16.jpg gif image host https://preview.ibb.co/jyXiD5/2017_03_28_10_28_31.jpg free webs...

Re: Cop car fascination?

The police version of AWD has numerous features to improve durability during severe use. First, the Power Transfer Unit on the AWD system uses a police-only auxiliary cooler. The standard AWD unit is air cooled, i.e., the aluminum housing dissipates heat to the surrounding air. When the vehicle is ...

Re: Cop car fascination?

Love my PI Sedan. Bought it with a hair over 30,000 miles and 300 hours. Was never an in-service police car, privately owned and has almost every option. I'd buy it all over again in a heartbeat. Granted it cost $20K but if you want something that's newer and not abused with a fudge ton of miles, th...
