Re: PTU Drain and Fill.

The PI's have a cooler attached to the PTU which makes it a tad more difficult to do a drain and fill compared to civilian models. The cooler temperature sensor bracket actually blocks access to the fill hole. Additionally, the fill hole has a temperature sensor in it. I'm guessing the dealer wants ...

Re: Do P.I. trunk lids have inner linings?

Is there any benefit to adding the linings? Is it just for noise reduction?

Re: New to me 2014 Taurus PI. What should I watch out for?

"Police Interceptor" is the model of the car, so having that badge on the back shouldn't be a problem. Of course I can't speak for Canadian laws, but if an American cop pulls you over for the stock PI badge then he's just being an a$#. The lettering is small enough so that there's no way someone cou...

Not to my knowledge. There's the 2010-2012 and the 2013-2019 facelift. Both use the same engine/trans combos.

Re: V6 Transmission

Easiest way to tell for sure is to check the transmission code letter on your manufacturing sticker. It's normally the 6F50. 6F55 is usually for EcoBoost (SHO) models.

Re: Add fog lights to PI sedan?

Are you talking about adding the civilian Taurus "fog lights"? Those aren't really fog lights, they are more accent lights and don't really have much function. You would have to swap bumper covers if you have the PI bumper. Not really worth the trouble IMO.

Re: AUX/LINE IN

If you're handy with a soldering iron, you can solder the wires directly from the line in connector to the bottom of the radio PCB. Don't waste money on that harness. Here's how I did it: I soldered wires directly from the pins on the back of the aux jack directly to the exposed aux pins on the bott...

Re: New seats from SHO into Interceptor

Katzkin is expensive. Professional installation is going to be more than $1500. You're better off pulling leather seats out of a junked Taurus.

Don't pay for wiring diagrams on eBay. That stuff is already on the internet for free.

Yeah that's it. You'll notice that it's the same wire color, just it's been cut. Splice those two wires together and the horn should work.

Re: 2014 Police Interceptor

Check the obvious before chasing wiring: are the headlight bulbs good?

One headlight was out on mine when I bought it. Turned out both headlight bulbs were on their way out. It looked like the PD used the cheapest bulbs they could buy.

You have a 2013 which might not have the PTU monitoring system, not sure. I know the later cars had it for sure.

Re: Auto-lock and auto unlock enable 2014 interceptor sedan

I can confirm that I also cannot enable the auto lock in my 2015 by following these directions. Auto lock might simply be completely removed for PI's. You might need to ask a Ford fleet mechanic if they can give you a definitive answer. Sucks too because I actually like that feature. I usually rest ...

That is certainly aftermarket police-specific equipment. Could be used as a crash data recorder for example. Since you no longer have the complete police computer system installed it should just be removed.

Re: Why two trunk release buttons?

This was discussed in other trunk button threads. You have a later model year, right? The earlier ones didn't have the 2nd trunk button near the map lights. Considering that most PD's disabled the main trunk button, it would be safe to assume Ford installed the 2nd button near the map light as a rep...

Re: Burning smell???

Check coolant temp (when car is running & warmed up) and your coolant level (when the car not running and cold of course) If the car has any sign of overheating you could have the dreaded failing water pump. Watch out for this because mixing oil and coolant will kill your engine.

Re: Need a set of center caps for a 2016.

The Crown Vic hubcaps do work, but they look slightly different. I have the 'Vic hubcaps on mine. I personally like the look better than the official PIS/PIU hubcap. The downside is that the Vic hubcap has a bit of an air gap behind it (it sticks out). The newer hubcap should cover this up. You can ...

Re: 2015 FPIS: Trunk button not working & Fuel gauge not correct

Fair enough, but it probably requires a change in FORscan "AS BUILT" configuration, which good luck finding the right hex code to enable it. Don't brick your car over a small thing.

Re: 2015 FPIS: Trunk button not working & Fuel gauge not correct

It's not a configurable option in FORscan from what I have seen. I've gone through all of the available options and nothing is there. FWIW, I was able to find an "orange/green" wire in my trunk next to the rear power access, but it's on a different connector with several other wires. It's not the re...

Re: 2015 FPIS: Trunk button not working & Fuel gauge not correct

Update on this: Apparently my trunk button does work, but only under ignition like everyone else's. Whoops, I actually forgot to try that until just now. Also, to follow up on my last post about the plug in the back for disabling the trunk button under battery: apparently this only applies to the 20...
