Factory Service Manuals- I haz them.

I have an 06 Montego Premier, I picked up a set of the FSM, both volumes plus the wiring diagram book, MY06, but others similar, obviously. If anyone needs a scanned PDF of any procedures, specifications or information contained within these volumes, please contact me and let me know. I'll scan them...

Re: Installed a new radio but output is too low

Everything looks right and nothing looks unconnected. That’s what is confusing. I think I might just need a secondary small amp to boost the watts. But that’s something that’s out of my wheelhouse Well that was where I was going next.... It may just be that your aftermarket stereo isn't as powerful...

Re: Installed a new radio but output is too low

Did some looking up on this one, wow these 4th gen Taurus are a pain, wiring wise for the radio. Finding wiring diagrams for this system online is difficult too. If I had a Haynes manual in front of me, we could see exactly what wires were what, and then you just need to connect them appropriately t...

Re: 2009 Ford Taurus SE Transmission Problems

I just talked to the service director at my local Ford. Since, they can't duplicate the issue...I'm paying $1,100 plus tax for valve body,TSS and OSS sensors installed on next Tuesday with no guarantee. it's an expensive gamble and hopefully it solves my transmission problem. I don't know what othe...

Re: Installed a new radio but output is too low

If I do that then the radio wouldn’t be plugged into anything at all. DO you happen to have any pictures of the parts and install? I guess I'm confused as to how your install is unique to those I've seen in the past. You're saying that the radio plugs into the box in the trunk directly... all the w...

Re: 2009 Ford Taurus SE Transmission Problems

Wow... lots to comment on here. Firstly, people backing out of parking spaces should not almost hit you, whether you are moving or not- that is, IF they are paying attention, as you would have the right-of-way. But that's not the point... If the dealership charges you for and performs their diagnost...

Re: Installed a new radio but output is too low

Generally if there is no external amp, then no... that blue wire (sometimes labeled "remote") would not be used. The unplugging/bypassing of harnesses in the trunk sounds like that is the aftermarket metra wiring adapter to bypass and eliminate an external amp- which would be because the aftermarket...

Re: Installed a new radio but output is too low

Sounds like a factory external amp is not powering up. Usually that's what that solid blue wire is for. That's exactly how other vehicles I've wired with this symptom have been, and on my Jeep (I know, not exactly the same thing), I had ZERO output until I connected the blue wire for the factory amp...

Re: Upgrade subs same headunit

If you had an amplifier that could accept the pre-amped inputs from the head unit, then amplify them some more and output to the subs, and if that output was within the capabilities of the subwoofers... then sure. You're really just driving the subs harder with more power. That's about all you're go...

Re: Just bought a 2005 500

Well RockAuto does seem to be the cheapest so far, $256 compared to $284 from Amazon.ca. I think I will go with the RockAuto unit after I do some more fault finding to make sure this is the issue. I will change the Haldex fluid at the same time. Change the pump filter too... If you remove your old ...

Re: Just bought a 2005 500

Best price I can find on the Dorman is $284 from Amazon Canada, I've checked every parts store in my area and all the CDN online parts places and that's the best so far. I haven't even checked the dealership as it will probably be insane in price. Rockauto has listings for shipping to Canada... mig...

Re: Just bought a 2005 500

Thanks for the reply, I drove it home last night and it seemed to work good! Only issue I could see is that the ABS and traction control light are lit up. Quick research showed it might be the AWD coupling oil pump. If the ABD module fuse is blown and if I unplug this pump on the rear diff after re...

Re: Just bought a 2005 500

You'd need a scanner capable of reading ABS codes. I needed one for my 08 Acadia (severely dislike that vehicle....) so I bought an Innova 3160d on Amazon a few years back. Theyre up to the "g" version now. Price has also gone up, as I got mine for $160 at the time. You don't happen to be in Michiga...

Re: Just bought a 2005 500

Yes, for sure on the Haldex fluid when changing the pump. Those things don't fail often.. but if the filter is clogged and pressure increases, fluid is restricted, yeah things can go bad.

Do you have the DTC's for the ABS and traction control faults?

Re: Just bought a 2005 500

$1k is a good price, particularly if there are no known issues with it and it isn't' rusted out anywhere. Advice for a new owner? Same as with any used car, go through EVERYTHING. If anything is modified or broken, try to get it all back as close to OE/factory/new operation as you can. Define "way t...

Re: What struts for 2005 Five Hundred

Any ideas on this? I want to do the exact same to mine but haven't found anything on it. The two different part numbers would be for FWD versus AWD. The AWD suspension is approximately 1 inch higher. If they don't specify the difference on the site, you should probably call them to be sure you orde...

Five Hundred/Montego curb height....

What is everyone measuring for a curb height on their cars? Specifically, the rear... I understand there may be a difference between fwd and awd variants as well. With the OE Nivomats and AWD springs, I was measuring 16" left rear, 16.5 " right rear. I replaced both rear with newer, non-Nivomat AWD ...

Re: 2013 Taurus Water Pump Failure

That's unfortunate... Ford should have redesigned that water pump as soon as they knew it was an issue And Ford should have put more threads for the spark plug in the 97-03 F150 V8 heads. They knew about that problem for years but didn't fix it until about 2003 I think. Then came the brutal 5.4L 3V...

The 2014+ ones still fail (I've seen many cars) just that now you have 2 gaskets so 2 things to fail instead of 1
