Update

I ended up removing the servo motor on the left side of the heater box - near the pedals. I turned the blending door flap to give me heat for the next few days. I popped the cover off the servo motor and found a broken plastic tooth from one of the gears. It was probably getting caught in the gear t...

No heat from heater!

When I came out to my car tonight I had absolutely no heat. It was fine just an hour before that. I tried restarting the car, disconnecting the battery, still no help. It's just got the single manual heater controls. The engine is running fine and the temperature is in the normal range. I had a 70 m...

Re: noise at beginning of each drive cycle

Thanks for the reply warment, I'm guessing something trans related, but that's worth taking a look at.

noise at beginning of each drive cycle

My 2008 Taurus has kind of a subdued rapping noise coming from the front of the car during the beginning of each drive cycle. It usually happens right around 22 mph, give or take.... The car now has around 124,000 miles on it. I'm hoping it's not a cam synchronizer or oil-filled chain tensioner, wat...

Re: Transmission Filter Change

I bought the car w/ 41,000 miles on it and have been changing the ATF every 3rd or 4th oil change. I figure that should keep it nice and fresh. I just drain and refill once each time. Especially with Mobil 1 ATF at $9 something a quart.

Re: Transmission Filter Change

My '08 Taurus has 109k miles on it and I've just done ATF change #4 - (using Mobil 1 ATF). After 4 drop-and-fill ATF changes I figure I'm pretty much running 100% fully synthetic. The manual shows a filter attached directly to the pump, however it looks as if the trans has to be apart in order to ch...

Re: Rear Tire Issue

I doubt if you could ever get them to admit the problem, especially if you're out of factory warranty. However, if you show up with a copy of the TSB in your hand and a printout from an alignment machine showing the right rear camber is clearly out of spec?? Probably, to have the factory cover this ...

Re: Rear Tire Issue

I have inner rear tire wear, especially on the right. There is a TSB that talks about some cars with RR negative camber, (which my car does have), and also talks about how to modify the rear control arm to remedy the problem.

Does anyone have a quick fix on the windows squeaking when going up and down on my 2008 Taurus SEL?

Sway bar links

Has anyone had to replace either their front or rear sway bar links yet? My Taurus is getting real close to 100k miles and I was wondering if I should expect to replace them.

Squeak when first started....

Hi all, my mom says her 2006 Taurus SEL sometimes will squeak when first starting it. I listened to it today and didn't hear anything at all, nor did she. My main concern is this the camshaft syncronizer. Can these things be intermittent in nature? Do they have a typical mileage at which they can be...

Re: aftermarket shocks

I have not tried them yet, but was curious if anyone is having trouble with ride height on the rear. I travel with about 400 lbs of stuff between the rear seat and the trunk, and the rear end of the car sits a little low when loaded. I would like to find a way to bring the back end of the car up a l...

Re: 08 Sable transmission screwed up

I always warm mine up for a few minutes when temps are below 32. When it's zero or less I let it warm up 10 - 15 minutes. It's too much stress on the engine/trans when it's this cold. I've seen cars blow out front and rear crank seals, aux shaft seals, camshaft seals when driven cold in subzero temps.

Re: 2009 Taurus Limited Intermittent Hard Shift on 2nd gear

I've spent 40 grand between my '08 Taurus and my '08 Sable and I probably won't buy another Ford product again. (Because of this trans problem on the Taurus). Although we like both cars, the unresolved problem with the Taurus, and the lack of interest on the dealer's part to repair it has left a bad...

Re: Confused about replacement key options

Everything that Sorensenj said is accurate. The only thing I can add to that is that a plain transponder key should cost you about $15 (including shipping) from ebay. I took it to a Menards store in Rockford, IL and they cut it for me for free.

Re: Confused about replacement key options

My 2008 Taurus came with only 1 keyhead tranmitter and no other keys. I just ordered a regular transponder key from ebay and had a Mercury dealer cut and program the 2nd key. A few weeks later I ordered another transponder key, had it cut at a hardware store, and programmed it myself following the i...

Re: Door keypad code

I would first look thru all the paperwork in the glove box. It should be on a card in, or near, the owners manual. If you can't find it, the dealer should provide it to you, (for free), seeing as you bought the car from them. It's a feature of the car, therefore it should have been supplied to you w...
