Re: 05 500SEL Traded In

How long of a commute? :) Our 2005 Montego does a 150 mile round trip commute to and from East Texas to the DFW area everyday, M-F. :o So far it's technology is still getting mid 20's in mpg, roomy, comfortable and safe. So business clients can enjoy their short trip to lunch, the airport, etc. :D F...

Re: New to Forum, Major malfunction on 2011 SEL

SOrry for getting back late on this. I got the car back on Thursday. They replaced the trans with a new one and did a reprogram on the trans computer. Car runs like a champ now. (knock on wood). Thanks for the replies. Been enjoying the drive of it for the past few days. Glad to hear that. Keep us ...

Sounds like what happened to my 97 T Bird. I had mine about a year and a half and was totaled. Wish I had that car back...I loved it!

Re: Front Rotors

That is great to know, All American Ford in NJ wants $150 to turn 2 rotors at 33k miles... Here I am working on my '98 Thunderbird in 2003: http://photos.username.com/albums/BrakeJob/P6030041.sized.jpg That is why I buy new rotors every brake job. They charge way too much! The idiots who turn them....

Re: aftermarket shocks

Most manufacturers, recommend struts at 50,000 miles and Shocks around 25-30K miles. It's just one of those parts, that when it wears out so slowly, they lull you to sleep...UNTIL you have to make that quick maneuver or panic stop and the car doesn't act like you want it to.

Re: 2006 Mercury Montego Premier -- Just purchased!

Welcome! :D Have a COMPETENT FLM Dealer change the fluid in the tranny. Keep it changed every 30,000 miles, which is more than Ford recommends but will be worth it, because the ridiculous fluid changing recommendation from Ford, is 150,000 mile intervals. I would also advise not towing anything with...

Re: Battery dies

It is a mechanical fact, that 75% of all so called, rebuilt or remanufactured alternators are NOT GOOD right out of the box. Have the so called "newly" installed alternator checked out.

Re: Rear brake job

Hey Guys, What kind of break pads should I buy for a 2008 limited all wheel drive, there seams to be 3 varieties for the front and the rear: Standard, Semi-Metalic and Ceramic. Ranging from $30 to $80 for the rear. Is there any reason I should not buy all 8 pads from Mac for $48 shipped? http://www...

OUCH! Glad to hear you are okay. Are you kind of glad the airbags DIDN'T deploy? The accident got a whole lot cheaper because they did not.

Re: Is it worth it?

Troubles with the Taurus? Yes their have been troubles. Inherit ones: 2005-2011 Taurus/500 models have had brake troubles with excessive rear brake wear with the older ones from 2005-2009, some grinding noises on the newer ones, 2010-2011. Transmission problems: harsh downshifts on the Aisin 6 speed...

Re: New to Forum, Major malfunction on 2011 SEL

RStabb: If I could find them, believe me I would. But Ford has chosen to put these "bottom feeders" in a decision making position, in that we have to go to them. Bad management all the way around. It's quite frustrating. I have a problem and nobody has any accountability for pleasing the customer. T...

Re: New to Forum, Major malfunction on 2011 SEL

If a NEW transmission is not being ordered for it by now.....Tell them to buy the car back. Our car was over two years old and Ford did not have any Junk Aisin 6 speed reman's in stock. All they had were new ones and they had to be pulled off the Chicago assembly line. It's always nice to P**S off ...

RStabb....easy now tiger bear! It's not a bitch session. Your initial response of burning a quart of oil every 1,000 is normal needed clarification. Re: Oil consumption sho 2010

I guess our 2005 Montego with over 215,000 miles on it is considered "abnormal" in the eyes of RStabb? It does NOT use oil between 5,000 mile oil changes, never has! Unless maybe the oil dipstick is lying? RStabb. I guess your new KIA is burning a quart every 1,000 miles and by the time you ge...

Re: 2007 Sable moonroof

Florida? Home of the salt air? Anywhere in that state, if you don't wash your car almost daily and keep it in a garage.....they will rust and corrode. If there were any dis-similar metals, which I am pretty sure there are in the moon roof, that doesn't help either. Unless preventative measures are t...

Re: rear side window shattered

I agree...Shouldn't happen.....The right rear passenger window? Whoever installs the new window, should check to see if it wasn't mounted properly to begin with. Sometimes the way they are installed in the track, that supports the bottom of the window and attaches to the power window linkage, is sli...
