Re: Bad auto transmission, fix by converting to RWD...

Let me start by saying I love this car! The bad I have found is only the transmission. My 2005 Montego has the automatic 6 speed made by Aisin not the CVT unit. All of them are or should be considered defective because the valve body WILL FAIL at or around 50,000 miles. The transmission manufacture...

Re: What struts for 2005 Five Hundred

Installed my new MOOG front right end link over the weekend. The bottom joint (that connects to the sway bar) on the stock front right end link was very, very easy to turn by hand. The top was not. The bottom joint was completely worn out. I noticed that I have a hole in my fron right cv boot (the ...

Re: shifting issues

I have a 2007 Montego with the six-speed transmission and 18,000 miles. The upshift from 4th to 5th is somewhat delayed and the upshift from 5th to 6th is very delayed. Leveling off after an uphill climb, it sometime takes a mile or more before it finally shifts to 6th. (If one completely lets off ...

Very nice and a 7,000 RPM redline. Cool. I can't wait to see what the GT will be like with a new V8.

Re: 2005 Ford Five Hundred PS Rear Caliper Issue

Check the rotors. I would bet the inside of the rotor is rusted to hell as it was on mine. Don't waste time machining rotors. New rotors are 11mm thick and the service limit is 10mm. Cheep junk throw away rotors.

Re: ctv transmission

I would say that it is a normal feel for the CVT. ...but beware if you start to hear a ticking when you are in gear and stopped it is a serious problem. My '05 500 LTD with 77K miles started to make this noise. The Ford dealer said it was the CVT and there was a TSB on it. I didn't believe them and...

I bet. When I worked as an automotive technician, injuries where a part of the occupational hazards. Now I feel the pain. :(

Turn the steering wheel side to side to get the air out. Do not overfill after you are done.

Re: Brakes

Suck out all the fluid you can out of the master cylinder and then add fresh fluid and bleed it through until it comes out clean starting with the right rear then left rear then right front and then left front. Don't forget to top off the reservoir as you bleed. If your brake pedal is still spongy, ...

Re: shifting issues

I have changed the fluid already. It doesn't do it in the downshift. It does it in the upshift. It will hesitate before shifting especially going uphill. Sometimes when i let go of the gas it will shift. I looked up the TSB's and recalls for the 2007 and there is almost none. The fluid was brown wh...

Re: 2005 Five-Hundred Fuel Pump/Inertia Switch

Hello all, My 2005 Five-Hundred engine started dieing while it was idling. It died completely before I could get it in for service and I had to get it towed in. Service guys call back and say the inertia swich was having issues. After all these repairs/towing its running me around $900 for everythi...

No. The brace doesn't get hot enough that it would require high temperature paint.

It is easy to remove and re-install. Sand it and clean it up good and use Rustoleum.
