Re: Problem pulling rear wheel bearing

I would like to add, given that actually only 15% of the tightning torque is applied on the bolt for either pushing or clamping, it still leaves 15% x 30159 lbs of push = 4523 lbs of push. quote: " Typically only 10% to 15% of the overall torque is actually used to tighten the bolt, the rest is used...

Re: Problem pulling rear wheel bearing

On a side note, I am surprised forcing 2 bolts against the hub did not pull the bearing out. Given the following data: thread pitch of the bolt: 1/16 inch length of the wrench: 6 inch each turn of a wrench multiplies the force onto the bolt by a factor of 603: ( 2 x 6 in x 3.1416) / (1/16 in) = 603 ...

Re: Problem pulling rear wheel bearing

Ingenious Ford WI !
I shall remember this trick, even tough I should have known: I use similar technique to remove brake discs frozen to the wheel hubs. I use the 2 holes meant for screwing the caliper brackets to the hub.

Wiring bad ? connector making a bad connection ? or is this code telling you the coolant temp is too low, meaning the thermostat is stuck open?

Re: Flush and/or filter change?

If there is no drain plug, the way to go is to disconnect one of the ATF coolant line to or from the radiator, put the disconnected end in a pail, and start the engine for a few seconds until about a gallon flushes out. Stop the engine. Top up the transmission with fresh ATF, same quantity that flus...

Re: First major snow storm in AWD PI Taurus, and . . got stuck

The stability control system has to be switched to 'disabled' or 'off' when rocking the car, else it is much less effective. Snow tires would have helped also. Four seasons tires are much less efficient in deep snow.
