Warranty Items

Post by Pastor J » Fri Feb 08, 2013 4:21 pm

I just left the dealership and they told me that two things are not covered under my extended warranty. One of them surprised me completely.

1. My driver's side heated seat is not functioning. They told me this was not covered.
2. I have 65k miles on the car and the headliner is loose.

I was told that this extended warranty was "basically" bumper to bumper. Apparently, they were wrong.

Anyone know if they are trully covered and my service person just has no clue?

There are a *lot* of exclusions on extended warranties. Read the fine print, I assume you received that when you bought the warranty...?

I actually have nothing in writing from Ford. It is the Ford Premium extended warranty.

Sometimes dealers haven't read the paperwork either, but you can call and ask Ford

If you create a log in you can read the terms of your agreemet :)

Thank you, I did and the two items are not covered to my amazement.

At the cost of this warranty, they should be, but at this point, unless Ford is willing to do the right thing, I am out of luck.

I feel bad for you and what ford does to there customers. I can tell you a Fact many many ford owners had problems with seat warmer. I had both seats go bad on me

I will be calling Ford on Monday morning, but I am not anticipating a different resolution.

$350 to get the seat fixed, no idea about the headliner yet, but I figure it will be around $500. At least I saved the $50 for the emergency brake assembly :)

Gotta love your optimism

In past years I’ve had a few things go bad out of warranty (way out) and calling Ford didn’t help very much. On the other hand I’ve had major luck dealing with service managers who had good trusting relationships with Ford.

I had a 10 year old 94 wagon and got a full engine replacement and only paid the labor; sometimes there are hidden warranties.

The good news is that if our distributor or its shaft goes bad it is covered under the warranty despite the fact nobody has used a distributor in how many years? I just read the entire extended policy; it’s a tad behind the times. Also, I too was told when I bought the warranty “It’s just like the Bumper to Bumper”… Caveat emptor.

Ford might want to take a look at their policies and update them into the current century, just sayin…

Good luck, let us know how you make out. :)

Which extended warranty did you have? The PremiumCARE warranty will cover the seat heaters as I recently had it replaced - see my waranty thread.
What deductible did you purchase with it?

I have the premiumcare with the $100 deductible. I was told it was not covered. I will be calling Ford in the morning, but any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like he made out ok. Like I said, a lot depends on the dealer and service manager.

It is covered. I did a search and found this interesting news report out of San Francisco. Check it out and be sure to follow up with Ford (or your local station :) ).

I just got off the phone with Ford and they are going to review my request to have both items covered under warranty. I was told it could take up to 4 days to complete the request. We shall see.

FORD IS A NOT A FRIENDLY CUSTOMER SERVICE COMPANY. YOU SHOULD NOT BE GOING THROUGH THIS B.S.
IT SHOULD BE FIXED AT DEALERSHIP AT NO COST TO YOU. (PERIOD)

If you know something is covered and a certain dealership says it is not, you take your business to another dealer who will hopefully treat you better and earn your service after the warranty work is done.

I had the heated seat element replaced under warranty on my 08. Had the PremiumCare ESP.

I called my Ford dealer today and found out that Ford Inc. never called my local dealer. My dealer said they would call Ford. I will hopefully find out more tomorrow, but it isn't looking promising.

2 Weeks in and still no call from the Regional Customer Service Manager. I called my local dealer and they have not received a call either. Time to call them again.
