Engine light

Post by gwanner » Mon Apr 27, 2015 8:19 pm

Hello everyone, My 2013 limited is just getting ready to turn 60k on it and I noticed the engine light has come on. Could this be because it is coming up on 60k and Ford wants the dealership to check it out. I am not noticing anything unusual with the car, runs great sounds fine, just don't know why the light would come on. I tried running a health report but t says the car is not registered. I know it is I have run report before and I checked my account. Any suggestions or info?

Thank you for any help,
George

Have the code pulled--if not the dealer, then at Autozone. There is a fault present, but it could be any hundreds of causes.

On recent Fords, the EVAP canister purge valve seems somewhat prone to failure, but if nothing else, is covered by your emissions warranty. We won't know until we see the code, however.

Domain is correct. Check the code. Some places will read it for you some will let you use the tool but leave some collateral like drivers license etc... 60K could be anything. the EVAP purge canister maybe going but if not the canister it could be a line split, cracked, torn, dryrot etc...

The light on steady is not too bad but if it gets worse then the light will start flashing. Have the code read your local Advance, AutoZone or O reillys should be able to help you. Keep us posted on the code then we can go from there.

These guys are right, gwanner. Be sure to get the codes read. I recommend you bring it in to your Ford Dealer and speak to your service manager. He’s in the best position to ensure a proper diagnosis, and will be able to provide available options and/or coverage for any work needed.

You can schedule an appointment online here. Let me know the outcome.

Thanks everyone, I will set up an appointment since the oil is due to be changed and I have to get some of those recalls taken care of anyway. I will report back.
