Heated/Cooled Seats

Post by bruggles812 » Sat Apr 05, 2014 12:15 am

I bought a 2014 SHO today with all the bells and whistles, used with 6,500 miles on it. Is there a rick to the front seats? Pushed the button on the touch screen for heat and cold on both driver and passenger... Unless I am missing something, I got nothing! Is there a setting somewhere or a fuse? The dealer I bought from is four hours away! HELP!!

Call the dealer. You should hear some relays click if I remember right. You have to let them run a little while too. It's not instant heat or instant cool. There are blower motors under each seat.

Find any local Ford dealer, it is a warranty item.

BTW, 6,500 miles... NICE FIND!

What a joke!!! Okay, so I hear the seats "click" on when I push the screen... Can blows for a few seconds but then shuts off. No heat, same for cool on both front seats. Called my local dealer, they REFUSE to service it because I didn't buy from there... Stating, "they are being audited and can only perform safety repairs on vehicles not purchased from them". Soooo, I call Ford, told them... First they thought I was lying until they called the dealer and were told the same thing.

So I called the dealer I bought from, they could care less saying they bent over backwards for me... Um, I am the one that drove 4 hours!!! Not good Ford, not impressed and will be getting rid of this car as soon as possible! Cadillac, NEVER had this especially 24 hours after I bought it! So frustrated right :x now.

Have you talked to the regional manager in your area?

I'm not the greatest fan of Ford's customer service, but standard play for them is to link you with a dealer near you--and different from the one that caused you the trouble in the first place.

There is no reason for any dealer to deny this as a warranty item. Your car is under warranty with that mileage and age.

Did this car have a clean title? This wasn't a salvage or something, was it?

No, it's clean... It was a Ford corporate car, then titled to Ford Motor Company and auctioned. I am the first "public" title. The regional manager is involved, but the next closest dealer is 40 miles away.. I just want my Cadillac back at this point. So discouraged.

I even told the dealership I bought it at they could keep my down payment for their trouble and just give my Cadillac back.

I get the frustration, but give that semi-far dealer a chance. You shouldn't have to, but the right dealer can change everything about a car.

No Ford dealer can refuse to service your Ford vehicle simply because you didnt buy it there.

Here is the update.... Indeed the "Customer Service Center" rep told me that dealerships are independently owned and are allowed to service as they choose... I also found out that the dealership is indeed being audited due to the volume of service completed. I was able to get an appointment at a dealership 40 miles away, whom are also being audited but are not refusing to service my vehicle. The regional manager has yet to call me and the purchasing dealership never responded...

Great customer service! :|

That is insane! Does the dealership hate money? I can not imagine them only servicing vehicles bought from them only.

Deysha, can you elaborate?

I’m still willing to look into this for you, bruggles812. PM me with your info if you’d like.

Yes, GhostRider. All dealerships are independently owned and operated, so they can refuse service same as any independently owned store.

Deysha is 100% correct, just like any business they can refuse your business.

What Deysha can't and won't tell you (for obvious reasons) is that Ford or GM etc. can make life less than pleasant for a dealership should the need arise. The good dealerships covet that #1 rating for their service departments...First thing my salesperson did on my last few purchases was take me for a tour of the shop, introduce me to the service writers and service manager and made sure I saw their Ford awards for service.

Service dept intro is part of the new car checklist, that isn't a salesperson going above and beyond.

That may be, but I have NEVER had that done..ever. You go in, do paperwork, sign, get the keys and be on your way.

Some dealers are more prideful of their service departments than others. I didn't get an intro last time, but my selling dealer is so far from my house that my salesman didn't make an issue of it. We kinda got down to brass tacks though, he kept the deal to the minimum affairs necessary.
