2012 Taurus SHO Front bearing noise/replacement

Post by Tesla_HV » Tue Apr 19, 2016 11:07 am

My 2012 SHO has developed a wump-wump-wump... noise coming from what seems like the right front wheel. It sounds all the world like a wheel bearing. The noise is the worst turning left and at medium speeds. I just changed from snow tires with no change in the noise so it's not the tires. Anyone ever had a front bearing replaced? If so, how expensive is it?...I can just image for a AWD car that the repair may command a premium price.

It is just the wheel bearing, I had the same issue and it fixed it.

You will want the Timken brand wheel hub assembly.

Anyone have a how-to? I just watched a video on a previous gen model and it looked like a nightmare...strut/tie rod/axle...stuck hub...yikes!

I replaced a few on GM cars but never this much headache. I've got some light air tools but no lift.
