pealing tailights

Post by The Bone » Fri Sep 09, 2016 8:05 am

Its been discussed here before but this is crap. I have had them replaced before and guess what? It's happening again. All 4 of the them are pealing. I thought they had this fixed? Now I have to drop $400 on a new set. This car may be gone soon. Cant stand a car with this much going wrong. i ordered this car from Ford. Waited 6 weeks for delivery. And nothing but problems with little stuff. Mechanically this car is solid but not so happy with the rest.

To my knowledge, the fix is to buy tail lights without chrome. So in other words, Ford never fixed the issue for good.
2000 Ford Taurus SEL (excellent car, sold to a friend)
1992 Mercury Sable GS (good car except for the tranny, sold)
Current: 03 F150 King Ranch SuperCrew
Other Fords owned: 02 F150 SuperCrew 4x4, 11 F150 EcoBoost, 07 Ranger, 01 F150 XLT, 98 F150 XLT, 96 Thunderbird LX, 95 Escort GT, 86 Mustang LX, 82 Mustang

Same issue with my 2011 Taurus. $40k car with cheaply made taillights. Chrome also coming off shifter handle.

Same here have to buy another one for $50
Its a shame you have to replace the taillights without the chrome, its what separates it form a regular Taurus. I like to keep my cars as original as possible and if I do mods I keep the old parts. Outside lights were $180 and the ones on the trunk were about $80. I had to buy them all plus a sifter handle.
As far as fit and finish I give this car a F as for the mechanical I give my car a A. We have about 65,000 miles and have done nothing but oil changes.
