2010 Taurus SHO random no start

Post by mmike »

Anyone have any ideas on what this could be?

I noticed it does show ------ instead of the mileage from time to time on the cluster. What does that mean?

Hi MMike,
Did you ever find out why your SHO randomly would not start? I have a 2010 SHO that started doing the same thing. I am thinking it has to do with the start system not recognizing that the brake pedal is depressed and not giving the "ok" to start. Please, let me know if you have any answers. Thank you, DJG

I am having the exact same issue. Avoiding driving it because of the issue. It is completely random. the last time it happened i had it jumped and it worked. Not sure if it could be a battery issue with a bad cell or something. That was the dealers first suggestion. Service department said that the battery could read good charge from the alternator and good voltage at startup but there could be a bad cell not giving it enough amperage to actually start the car.

If that is the case a jump would get it started. Waiting for the issue to resurface to try the jump-start again but only drive it once a week or so when I am going to see family so that i dont get stuck in a random parking lot somewhere.
