Our 05 500 with front wheel drive has been acting up in snow or slippery conditions. With the traction control on, and in a slippery condition, the engine bogs down and traction goes to nothing and something smells hot. Turn off the traction control and everything is OK. Any ideas out there?

It could be brakes. The way the Traction control works is there are tone rings on each wheel and then the tone changes more on one wheel it tells the system to apply brakes to the slipping wheel. It may be something as simple as a sensor on a wheel that is bad or a broken wire. When you turn off the traction control then it turns off the sensors. Before traction control we got around just fine so you should be safe just resped the road conditions and get it fix when it warms up.
