Kinda looks weird with 2 shifters. I think it takes away from any coolness it would have. Get rid of the floor shifter.

I prefer column shifters all day long, it's such a waste of space down on the console

Lose the extraneous shifter that's taking up space for more useful stuff, like storing your drive-thru snacks LOL

Column shift is what makes a PI a PI.
OP crossposted this on another forum, he did have big plans for the floor shift space make it more useful for other devices.

Nice Job. Ford should offer the PI console as an assembly but they don't the pricing of all the parts needed is outrageous. I know a guy that put a civilian console in a PI Utility and custom did up a plate where the console shifter went.
Looks good but agree the shift needs to go asap.

Thanks. Yeah that's actually what my plan was that Domain mentioned above. I'm going to (eventually) have a plate machined to a factory style fitment and install it where the shifter and it's current bezel is at. With 12v power and USB plugs installed flush within it.
...and if I get in a real creative mood, have a power inverter outlet or two mounted there instead, with the power inverter itself remotely mounted elsewhere (trunk probably).
(Example of such from the install we did on my Land Rover a while back, with a 3,200watt max inverter remotely mounted elsewhere)

Me too! I came from having a CVPI. I miss my column shifter. Because I have a power adjustable column, I cant even mod it.

I found out today that there is an option when you buy an interceptor to choose a police version of the standard taurus console. It's part of the interior upgrade package that includes carpets and floor mats.
It's essentially the console you have here with different center inserts instead of the shiny black ones. Ford makes a part to replace the center shifter plate, part #: <045A76.
Here's what it looks like with the police version of the standard console:

And for those who want to put civilian consoles in you can order the blank plate and the 12V outlet panel to make it look like the official police console (get rid of the floor shifter). You loose the compartment to the right of the shifter however. The parts run like $200 if I recall correctly.

The cup holders are kind of awkward. You need T-Rex arms to use them.

Inside the console it has cut outs for more power outlets, that are not installed. I would like to add these, does anyone know how to do this?

Bit of an update, did some refinement.
End result of today's work. Police console plate modded to work with SHO style civilian console, console shifter removed with a block off plate fabricated to go in it's place, and the factory lighting hooked up.

Nice. Did you buy the console or find one in a junked car?

I grabbed it for about $100 off Ebay. It's from a SHO.

Do you have pictures of the electronic connectors? I got a console for my interceptor and the connectors are different!

Electronic connectors to what exactly? The only thing electronically to hook up is the 12V (cigarette lighter) style ports. All of the factory wiring harness that came inside of your console can be stripped out.
