Rear end sounds like a wooden sailing ship!

Post by Jake_Blues » Wed Jun 19, 2019 8:40 pm

Every now and then I like to drive with the radio/music off so I can listen for any strange noises and sure enough - I am hearing a sound from the right rear of my 2013 PI that sounds like the creaking of a wooden sailing ship - yup, just like what you hear in the movies and on tv.

I generally hear this groaning when I am turning or going over speed bumps or making the transition form level ground to a grade. i am guessing it's a rear suspension component?

anyone familiar with this sound?

i haven't jacked up the car to check the rear wheels for play yet, but could it be the sway bar bushings as well?
