2013 FPIS factory Whelen hideaway ??

Alright. I just bought a 2013 FPIS and it still has all of the Whelen/FoMoCo hideaways and headlight/tail light strobes.

Going by Whelen's wiring diagram, black is ground and red/blue (denotes LED color) is positive. However, when I jump power to those wires, absolutely nothing happens.

Does anyone know if the Ford wiring color code is different? I highly doubt the lights were electronically destroyed before the car went to auction. I just feel like I'm missing something, whether it be a wiring color code difference or idk.

And no, I'm not trying to impersonate a PO by making the red/blue functional. I want to make sure the blues are functional so I can sell them and put reds in the rear facing hideaways (allowed) and upgrade the fronts to amber. Planning on outfitting the car as being a support vehicle for my towing business that I'm starting up.

Update:

I removed and disassembled a ION light head and verified that it had power and ground at the circuit board. Which it had. The only slightest sign of life I got was one LED emitting a faint blue light. Other than that, nothing. No light from any of the other LED chips.

Really looking like they somehow fried all the light heads before it went to auction. Which is extremely disappointing from a resale/reuse standpoint

There’s all likely they may have fried it so it doesn’t get reused. A few FPIS I’ve seen, most of them are cut at the end of the hideaway so there’s no wires to wire up to. Not sure how your agency goes by their decommissioning procedure but there’s a chance those aren’t useable. It’s usually a hit or miss if you do get them included with the vehicle but sometimes there’s always a catch.

Yeah, every single FPIS and FPIU had all the hideaways still installed. I've tested 4 modules so far and they all seem dead. So I guess that's it, instead of cutting or removing them, they just get them.

That's a shame since that's like almost $1000 of lights

That’s a shame alright. Either they could’ve left them active or remove them to reuse them but I guess they’ll just want an increase in their fleet + equipment purchasing budget lol

Yeah, who knows. I was only going to be able to reuse the tail light reds and two rear facing reds, so it isn't the biggest issue.

Have my eye on some Damega stuff that's on sale, so I'll probably just do a whole install with that

Yup, that was going to be my second thing after the push bar lol. & that works! Keep an eye on Whelen products on sale or if someone is selling them second hand, they’re way a lot better, despite the pricing.

Honestly, look into the Damega stuff. It's cheap and ridiculously bright for the price. Nothing like the cheap ebay/amazon stuff

I will check them out! A lot of the people I know are using feniex as a cheaper option to whelens, they’re insanely bright; I’ll say that.

Yeah I've seen those but honestly, the Damega are even cheaper cause they go on heavily discounted sale a lot. And they're extremely bright

How is their sync, if it supports that feature?

They can be sync'd to match or alternate. And it seems like most of them support 2 flash modes with mode 2 overriding mode 1.

So what I'm thinking is having mode 1 be amber flash and then having mode 2 override to white solid for flood lighting

Ledoutfitters.com carries them and always seems to have a sale on them. I just gotta bite the bullet one day cause the package I put together is going to be like $550 for about 22 lights.
