Definitely check the engine mounts. The right side one is particularly prone to failure, and when it does, since the main mounts are hydraulic, the engine will ride too low and the exhaust will foul on things like the steering rack heat shield.

Thanks for the suggestions. I found the source. Apparently the impact bent the skid plate into the exhaust header. Little crow bar action and the noise is gone.
