Just bought 06 Limited. Tire question?

Post by T Mack » Sat Mar 20, 2010 6:03 pm

I've read through some of the the threads and Im still a bit confused..
Should I just put more pirellis on or what kind of tires should I put on?
I want good tires not cheap crap...

Also when car is cold and i start It, i hear a funny squeaky noise or something from under the hood?
Car has 45,000 miles on her.. Maybe a bad belt?
Anyone else ever hear a funny noise when starting car?

Tire preferences are subjective at best.....and entirely up to the owner of the vehicle.

Personally, I never had a problem with the 18 in. Pirelli P6's that came standard on our Montego. They lasted for 73,000 miles and still weren't at the wear bars.

We now have Michelin Primacy's. Must say they are a quieter running tire and a smoother riding tire.

I replaced the Pirellis with Hankook Optimos, and I'm pleased. You'll find that your choices are somewhat limited. My Pirellis lasted 53,000 miles. Nettysmontego, how'd you get 73,000 miles? I rotated them every 5,000 miles and balanced them every 10,000.

I did the same thing. Always had them rotated and balanced at NTB. 75% of those miles were highway miles not city driving. After those, the Michelin Energy MXV4's didn't last quite that long...around 63,000, so we put another set of those on and just took those off at around 50,000 miles on them to put the Primacy's on. NTB said the Energy's had been discontinued? Maybe they were? Would have to wait a day or so for a new one. I didn't want to put an odd ball tire on, so I went with the Primacy's.
