Hello members, I've just purchased a 2013 PI so am very new to this forum and the challenges of fixing her up! I've been searching the net looking at console options and the hole (area) above the radio and must admit it's tough finding what I'll need to do a decent job. So here I am looking for advice on what is the best option to pursue. I'm not against upgrading the radio and adding GPS to my car so keep that in mind. I'm attaching 2 photos of what I'm dealing with.

Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

You should be able to find a junked PI to get the tray for the dash that goes on top pretty cheap. You're just gonna have to browse listings on car-part.com until you find a junked PI and give them a call, cause they don't always inventory the PI parts. As for the center console, you need to either get the metal plate that goes with the car and install an aftermarket for the center console or purchase a civilian console assembly, again both can be obtained from salvage.

I would avoid eBay and go with local yards because most sellers have shipped me incomplete assemblies or broken parts too many times. You're also going to need the brackets to mount either solution because it looks like you're missing them from what I recall.

Thanks for the advice transportsaxon. I'll keep looking. Any chance you have a photo of the brackets you are talking about that I'm missing? If I go with a civilian console assembly and if I understand the point you made about the 8" screen you are saying if I was to upgrade my stereo to a 8" screen and get the console that came with it I would avoid having to patch at least one of the holes the original guy is having to patch, correct? And as for the hole left over by the civilian shifter hasn't anyone come up with the coffee mug plate for that yet? Let me know if I'm heading in the right direction here....

Sorry transportsaxon, it was Soda_can_dan that made the statement about the 8" screen. I sent him a PM asking for clarification. I'm pretty sure after re-reading his comment several times my interpretation is correct.

Bump

Best solution I see so far is seeing if this part linked here would fit below climate control and above 12v open/shut slot.

For gear shifter, thinking about taking a carbon fiber plate about .5mm thick, fitting it into the slits and throwing QuikSteel into the edges to secure, with just some simple paint over the shifting letters.

Anyone else figured out better solutions before I go ahead and do these?
