SYNC “battery saver”?

Post by GhostRider » Tue Nov 28, 2017 6:44 am

Normally the radio is supposed to stay on after the engine is off for a period of time or until the door is opened. However, lately I get this message (see pic) and the SYNC system turns off after the engine is off. What’s the deal?

You could be right! I took it in today for "The Works" and they tested the battery and its at 638 CCA/850 CCA.

Its a Motorcraft battery (BXT-65-850) that was installed on 5-28-16 with 87825 miles on it and it looks like its failing with 113457 miles. Should it be this bad a year and a half later with only 25,632 miles on this battery??? Whats the warranty?? It says on the side "36 month free replacement warranty." Should I have them replace it?

Well since nobody here seems to know about the battery warranty. I called up the local Ford dealer. They said they have to do a Rotunda test on the battery, where they fully charge it and see if it passes or fails for a warranty. The test could take 15-60 mins.

So, I guess I know what I am doing on Saturday.

I bought a 2011 F150 new, had it 4.5 years and went through 5 batteries. It just got low because I didn't drive it much. Do you drive your car daily?

There are lots of things that slowly drain your battery if you let the car sit, there's no way around that with modern cars, short of physically disconnecting the battery when the car is sitting for a while.

My battery was under the bumper-to-bumper 3 year warranty, after that I had to start paying for the batteries. I was so frustrated with the issue that I sold the truck and bought an 03 F150. I really do like the 97-03 F150's better anyway.
