Used an oil additive, engine sounds rougher at 1200-2k rpm

Post by mymangochutney » Thu Oct 03, 2019 7:47 pm

I ran some BG109 for 10 mins at 1200rpm like recomended in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3-NOGZL8ms

and noticed after the oil was changed the engine sounds rougher at 1200-2000 rpm, but it doesn't feel any different driving and I don't hear anything at other RPM's.

Did I break something or is it by coincidence?

Anytime I do something with my PIS that affects the engine mechanically and electronically, I would disconnect the battery for a few minutes. For some reason, my PIS is ultra picky on changes and disconnecting the battery resolves my issues.

Thanks will give it a shot tonight, and listen to some other cars if they make the same noise.

Gave it a try, no difference :/

Wondering if I should take it to the dealer (have warranty) but it's a "small" issue so I think they'll just brush it off?

I guess you can check the oil dipstick to see if the oil is still dark. Check the PVC to make sure it isn't gunked up. Maybe moving up to premium gas and see what happens.
